Curd Rice is a very popular dish in the South part of India. It is also known as Curd rice, yogurt rice, Dahi kaddi, Dahi chawal, etc. It is prepared with steamed rice mixed with curds and then tampered with urad dal mustard seeds, green chilies, curry leaves, spice powder, etc. Curd Rice is often cooked in my kitchen and I love it to have with fish/potato/cauliflower fry. In some families eating Curd Rice is a tradition at the end of lunch or dinner as this improves the digestion. My personal advice is to avoid curd rice when you have a cold and cough as it triggers mucus formation and can worsen the cold.

Ingredients to make Simple Curd Rice

You can oven heat the curd rice couple of minutes before serving and not advised to heat on the stove. You can also eat it at room temperature or chilled.
